Electro-Acupuncture

What is Electro-Acupuncture?
Electro-Acupuncture is a technique where electrodes are attached to needles that have already been inserted into the acupoints on the skin. A small electrical charge similar to the biological electricity of the human body is gently released and stimulates the acupoint to enhance the therapeutic effect.

What to Expect During Treatment?
Electro-Acupuncture may not be suitable for everyone especially for individuals who have a pacemaker or if they have metal in their body. Your Chinese medicine practitioner will undertake a thorough consultation and will ask questions based on safety to determine whether electro-acupuncture is appropriate for your condition or safe for you.

However, if electro-acupuncture is suitable to be used for the treatment of your condition and is safe for you, during treatment with electro-acupuncture you will experience a slight pulsing sensation. This sensation should be comfortable and it is important to notify your practitioner during treatment whether the pulsing sensation is too intense and uncomfortable.

What to Expect After Treatment?
After treatment it is normal to feel aching or tingling for a couple of hours in the areas that were treated with electro-acupuncture. However, it is not normal if your aching lasts for more that two days or becomes severe overtime; thus, you should inform your Chinese medicine practitioner whether you experience this immediately.
